Is that really necessary?

An open a discussion about the overload within art institutions & schools, about the pressure that comes from the current fast pace and overproduction in all spheres nowadays. Is it really necessary to conduct it this way within art institutions?

“Should the exhibition be the main goal I should strive for? Could it just be a natural, but not obligatory, part of the creative process? The invisible pressure and the frustration that comes with it is daunting. The sheer number of exhibitions I've worked on this semester has brought me to the point where I miss the point of creating more again. Instead, I am focusing and devoting my energy to longer-term projects that make sense and fulfill me. But which at the same time don't quite fit into the dimensions of the Klauzura system that requires us to produce and come up with something new and complete every four months...

Is that really necessary? Shouldn't we be asking whether what we are doing is fulfilling and whether we are doing it honestly with ourselves?”

“Měla by být výstava tím hlavním cílem, o který mám usilovat? Nemohla by být pouze přirozenou, ne však povinnou, součástí tvůrčího procesu? Neviditelný nátlak a frustrace, která s ním přichází, je skličující. Samotné množství výstav, na kterých jsem pracovala během tohoto semestru, mě dovedlo až do bodu, kdy postrádám smysl znovu vytvářet další. Namísto toho se soustřeďuji a věnuji energii dlouhodobějším projektům, který mi smysl dávají a naplňují mě. Ale které zároveň tak úplně nespadají do rozměrů systému klauzur, který po nás vyžaduje produkovat a přicházet každé čtyři měsíce s něčím novým a kompletním…

Je to opravdu zapotřebí? Neměli bychom se ptát zda to, co děláme, nás naplňuje a zda to děláme upřímně k sobě samým?”
